The Benefits of Devolution

Devolution has given to Wales an enhanced sense of nationhood, and has assisted the movement towards a Welsh Parliament along the lines of the Scottish model. Wales, as Rhodri says, has certainly grown up as a nation, and there is a renewed confidence and pride at large throughout the country. It is now the duty of the Assembly to bring about economic and social cohesion and unity throughout the regions, and address the conditions in north Wales in particular with regard to access and provision of health services, as well as employment and affordable housing. This will involve decentralisation of administration which should be devolved from Cardiff Bay and the south-eastern corner for the benefit of the areas of the country which suffer deprivation.

Hi Alan -whats Plaids stance on an improved M4

Hi Mam, I cannot tell you about Plaid's stance on this issue but my personal view is that Ieuan is committed to improving the infrastructure considerably within the next 4 years and I presume this will include a north-south link road with the M4 (do you mean extending or widening it?). A balance will be required to minimize the effects on the environment of a major highway of course to safeguard the communities en route. This innovation would be a huge step, in unifying the country on a north-south axis as well as providing an economic boost. This is a vital need.
