Scotland's Stance - an act of treason?

Ever since the Act of Union England (renamed "Great Britain") has exercised control over Scottish affairs. Successive Secretaries of State for Scotland have kept the lid on Scottish aspirations for an independent state of Alba. In the 21st Century, as the public demand more transparency from government, more and more information is coming to light on the endeavours of the British government to suppress calls for an independent Scotland. This nation was never given equal status with England in the British Union. Its language and culture were mocked and suppressed and it was essentially treated as a defeated subject nation and at the same time was recognised to be a component of the wider Empire. Even in America the answer to the statement "I am Scottish" or "I am Welsh" would frequently be: "Oh, so you're from England. Have a nice day."

Diomahair Prts 1-6

The story of how successive Labour and Conservative governments up until the 1970s worked behind the scenes to discredit the Home Rule movement and the SNP - as revealed through once secret papers now available from official archives.

"When we had a king, and a chancellor, and parliament-men o' our ain, we could aye peeble them wi' stanes when they werena gude bairns." Sir Walter Scott

Just discovered your blog. I've added it to my favourite's list.

I'm sure you are aware of what has been happening to Scots Nationalist bloggers. Some brought it on themselves by the use of inappropriate language, but even some of the more reasonable ones have gone into hiding too. The Unionists will attack wherever possible.

I hope that this blog will keep the flag flying for Scotland/Alba as well as for the other Celtic nations until independence comes along. None of us are getting any younger so the slogan is "The Urgency of Change".
Blogs may be going to the wall but we go on forever.
