Goodbye to Britannia!

It appears that Britannia is no longer relevant in modern Britain and will soon be removed from the coinage. One by one the trappings of 'Britishness' are disappearing from the scene in the former British territories of Scotland, Wales and northern Ireland, and one of our campaigns is for the demise of the Union flag, which already is not flown in Scotland except on 18 days per year. After independence the flag will no longer be seen fluttering in the breeze as is the case in the Republic of Ireland, where the Union flag in not in evidence throughout the land, and for good reason.

What made a good Englishman like you leave England I wonder?

To clarify matters for Anglo-zealots: there is nothing wrong with England. It also has a right to be a nation... it is this evanescent 'Britain' which we call into question.

Why do your loyalties lie with Wales, when you are an Englishman? Nothing wrong with it, of course, but I'm intrigued to know why.

And what is wrong with that lady being a Conservative? She was perfectly polite to you.

What a profoundly patronising comment: "It also has a right to be a nation." No wonder there is such contempt for small-minded nationalists such as you.

Oh ,you like to delete comments do you?
especialy the ones about you not liking the ladies?
A true democrat is one who thinks he can post what he likes, but yet fears the response!
your reponse to the finch was a disgrace, now ypu have deleted it!

I will delete you too if you carry on with your rubbishy comments, Mr/Ms Anonymous

Why are you so aggressive?
The idea of a blog and comments is to discuss.

Unknown said...

So Ms Finch,
why do you not discuss, but rather indulge in making personal comments?

Anonymous said...

You are being very rude to that lady. Why do you behave like that?

Unknown said...

I'm not going to waste my time answering personal comments. If you have anything positive to contribute or to discuss then do it.

I can't understand why you're so bad tempered. What is the problem?

It is obvious that this innocent posting has really got to a few people.....good!

Priory health care is a good place to seek help if things are getting too much for you.
It is not worth letting things "get to you " like this.
You sound like a man on the edge to me.
Trouble is with the priory is that it is in England.

Yes Alan, this posting has attracted a few comments.

This is so unlike the rest of your mawkish drivel which only seems to attract a few cobwebs.

Pity you did not leave the comments in tact.
Gave a huge clue to the sort of person you are.
I do not understand why you deleted your reply's

I really think commentators should lay off this guy. He has got huge problems and we're not making him any better.

Well if this is the intellectual capacity of most British nationalists we should have no difficulty in winning the argument! ;-)

But at the end of the day,you have to have to try to find some humour in this world that we live in. I think that the world has become far too "PC". The silent majority have been gagged and ridden over rough shod.
