Ieuan and the Referendum

From the Deputy Chief Minister for Wales

I’m sure many of you will have heard the news that there will be no official ‘No’ and ‘Yes’ for our referendum on March 3rd.

Despite this, the ‘Yes for Wales’ campaign will continue to work hard in each village, town and city in Wales over the next 6 weeks, and I know that many of you are already working hard organising street stalls, distributing leaflets and organising public events locally.

Let us therefore see the lack of recognition as an opportunity. A golden opportunity to ensure that the ‘Yes for Wales’ campaign does everything in its power to communicate its message to all electors in Wales. It is an opportunity to inspire our communities – to generate excitement about our new Senedd and a new chapter in the political history of Wales. This will require even more leafleting work during the last weeks of the campaign but I’m quite confident that you will face up to the challenge.

We know from the experience of '97 that the efforts of Plaid members will be key for the ‘Yes for Wales’ campaign.  And there is no doubt that a victory for the 2011 ‘Yes for Wales’ will also be a victory for Plaid Cymru on March 3rd, so let us go forward with even more determination.
Best wishes,

Ieuan
