A Word of Thanks

Wales Says Yes!  Thank You!

Dear Friend,

Firstly, we would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you that contributed to the success of the recent referendum. Thanks to you, Wales has a new political landscape which will see a stronger, better and more efficient Assembly.

As you’ll be aware, the 'Yes for Wales' campaign fought all odds to take its campaign to the streets. Although a cross-party campaign, let us not forget the enormous effort that Plaid Cymru and Plaid Cymru members in particular, made to this campaign.

With the help of our supporters, Plaid Cymru made considerable and vital contributions to the all-party campaign and without our efforts, 'Yes for Wales' may not be celebrating its victory today. We can say with both confidence and with pride that it was Plaid Cymru and our supporters that helped secure victory in the referendum.

With the referendum won, Plaid Cymru now faces a new challenge. Our focus now must be on securing success for Plaid Cymru at the Welsh General Election. With less than two months to go before polling day and with much of our funds having been spent on the Yes campaign, the party must raise an additional £50,000 to ensure that this is the best campaign the Party has ever run. This money will help Plaid Cymru spread our message through cinema advertising, reaching more voters who have yet to make up their minds about who to vote for through telephone canvassing and targeting postal voters.

We therefore urge you to give as generously as you can to this appeal which will be the last financial appeal before the Welsh General Election on May 5. Remember, we need all members to give as generously as they can so that we can run a successful all-Wales campaign.

For Wales,

Ieuan Wyn Jones, Jill Evans, Dafydd Wigley & Helen Mary Jones

P.S. Don’t miss Plaid Cymru’s Spring Conference on the 25th & 26th March, Wales Millenium Centre Cardiff. For further information e-mail vicijones@plaidcymru.org or tel 029 204 75921. Entry is free for members!

  1. Now that we have won primary law making powers roll on tax varying powers, policing & justice powers, Scientific policy, a Welsh stock exchange and a national holiday for St David's Day.
