For the Sain Tathan Campaigners

Simon & Garfunkel -

Last Night I Had The Strangest Dream

Last night I had the strangest dream
I ever dreamed before
I dreamed the world had all agreed
To put an end to war
I dreamed I saw a mighty room
The room was filled with men
And the paper they were signing said
They'd never fight again

And when the papers all were signed
And a million copies made
They all joined hands and bowed their heads
And grateful prayers were prayed
And the people in the streets below
Were dancing round and round
And guns and swords and uniforms
Were scattered on the ground

Last night I had the strangest dream
I ever dreamed before
I dreamed the world had all agreed
To put an end to war

  1. I had a dream that there was no more crime or disease or sadness in the world .... it was just a dream though ... and nothing to do with the real world at all.

  2. I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

    I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification; one day right there in Alabama, little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.

    I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.

  3. You'll be quoting John Lennon next.

Look the blog is called Independence Cymru .. I guess you mean by that you are in favour of an independent state. Now I happen to agree with Lenin's definition of a state "a body of armed men".

If Wales is going to have this non-violent army who is going to protect the Welsh state. And you never know it may need protecting at some date in the future. I guess that you're going to rely on someone else ... the toothless United Nations perhaps or the United States or England.

What's wrong with an independent Wales having an army that is prepared to fight to defend a Welsh state, what's wrong with that Welsh army co-operating with other democratic countries in NATO like so many of the newly liberated peoples of Eastern Europe?

  4. Wales will of course have its own army which will contribute to the defence of Europe. I cannot envisage an outbreak of war between the states of the EU. Any threat would be external to the EU. Cymru would be a constituent nation within the EU.

  5. So we win independence and then give it up to a European super-state. What's wrong with NATO, you don't like Americans?

  6. why would we want an army ?
Who are we defending ourselves against
If we were independent I could think of better ways to spend scare resources

  7. So I guess by the same logic getting rid of the army would be a good idea for all the western democracies ...... wonder what would happen then? Perhaps the fact that no-one is likely to attack an independent Wales might have something to do with the fact that the western democracies do have armies. If Wales wants to be independent it should have an army afetr all it wasn't social workers who liberated Dachau and Belsen.

  8. But there is no logic. This man is mad.
