what the anonymous muppet above seems to ignore is that states do not derive their income solely from taxation. Indeed, one of the greatest 'income' streams utilised by the oh so clever UK government is reckless and unsustainable borrowing, with 50 billion per annum interest payments due. The overheated and again unsustainable shitty of London also generates a huge amount of money, but evades even larger amounts of tax payable and concentrates dangerously in one sector and area, a large and volatile veritable uncontrolled super-volcano. hence the mess we are in right now.
Smaller countries do manage and there are increasing numbers of them as the years go on. Not by reckless borrowing but often by utilising core assets such as minerals and fuels for the benefit of their people, creating sustainable employment and wealth that circulates in the economy, rather than farming out exploitation of such riches to greedy companies for a quick backhander or a job once one is no longer an MP. I could go on, but the UK is a shipwreck of a country and certainly isn't a nation. I could do better with my Lego set to be honest!

Anonymous, those of us who support Welsh independence understand that we are taking more than we give, and we don't like it! Why do you think Wales should want this dependency culture? The reason south east England is able to contribute so much taxes is because the UK government is using its economic levers to increase wealth creation in London and the south east. The government of an independent Wales would use its economic levers for to create wealth in Wales.

There are only 168k nett taxpayers in Scotland and even less in Wales. without South east England we wont even have enough money to maintain our roads, let alone schools etc and Europe is not in a position to assist any further as it is bankrupt. gulliver your right. but only a half amount of Galicians migrated to ireland to keep the celtic tribe going cause of some war. & Gallinedd people say we lost our language but what the Celtic congress doesn't know is that we still have the language & a few words but it's hard to tell because we adapted Vulgar Latin(Romans) & Castilian Spanish language but the gaelic language is there. no one justf deosn't dig too deep into the Galician language. & if you didn't know Gaelic Scottish, Gaelic Irish, & Gaelic Wales are different comparing each other as you can see. & this was because they probably adapted to another language. maybe Anglo Saxon, Britonian & a particular germanic language i can't seem to get. but if you take the languages that us Gaelics adapted too. you can tell we have the Gaelic language. i know it sounds impossible but only if you dig deep into it. words like (fillo)fiallo, & (samain)samahin to be exact.

No need to tunnel or have rack rail. Why not just terminate below Pen Dinas. An express link bus could run between the two stations for those going futher and a normal bus for those wanting Aberystwyth town.
My ideal would be one of those raised monorails but the cost may be even more.

I think the days of the UK are coming to an end. I don't know anyone who sees themselves primarily as British, although clearly, as well as our primary identity we are British, just as we are Europeans, and Earthlings!

Maybe the Guardian will decide to come out of it's tunnel now. Perhaps in 10 years' time it will have worked out that Cornwall IS a part of the UK and IOM is not, if there still IS a UK.

I've noticed, though, that quite often the Telegraph's Scottish edition will talk of the Justice Secretary... Kenny, I think? No. It's Ken. And on other occasions there are health stories relating to English hospitals, but failing to point this out. Scottish Edition? Nah, not really.

Well, I am half welsh and I do not completely agree with you, but I still this that Celts have more rights to colonise the english than the zionist Jews have to colonise palestine, You may check my blog to see. I still believe it is wrong for the english to not allow, us as celts to have our own language and to keep it. I still believe that colonising the English is wrong. If the english and french are really oppressive and don't let us have our own languages, then I would support independant celtic states, but if the english are not oppressive I will not support independant celtic states. I do not know what goes on in Walse, because I have been brought up in england and only my father's welsh and my mum's half english and half irish. I still consider myself a modern celt and whether I like it or not I am a celt, I can't control it, whatever people say about me. There has tended to be an over-simplification in britain, ignoring celtic influence in england, and other influences in the celtic nations, but unfortunatly the maker of the dewnans site had gone about it the wrong way...

Rather than first researching what genuine influence the celts had had in devon , he started with the intetntion of copying each of the elements of celtic nationhood (language, flag etc.)

The 'old devonian' language is a quite terrible piece of work, presented on these websites as fact. There are no records of old devoninan, no survivals, and indeed linguists have never ever used the words 'old devonian' the closest is the hypothetical southwestern brythonic, and if one were to attempt to reconstruct this it would not be in the way arthur biddick has.

And, whilst I would suspect devon would have a higher genetic inhesritance from 'celts' if only from the well attested movement from cornwall, If I remember correctly the blood of the vikings series did not collect any data in devon, it was instead interpolated from that of cornwall and elsewhere, and so would obviously have come out similar to cornwall

Anyway, your side swipe of organised relgion is fine, but your arguments for the value of truth is still lacking. A truth that is changing is not an absolute, which is what you argued for at the very beginning of this. Your counter claims just continue to undermine your initial premise, that in some way truth is superior to belief, because it lacks the contentious demands of belief. It does not.
